HID Headlights

Let there be light

I chose 55w Apexcone 4500k by DDM tuning for my HID headlights.  Stock headlights are marginal at best.  In my opinion HID's provide the best that can be had with the stock headlight capsules.  DDM uses digital Ballests which help the HID's start quickly.

The HID bulbs are used in both 9004 and 9007 applications.
The housings are notched for correct placement in either 9004 or 9007 sockets.

Being used for both 9004 and 9007 applications
You need to reverse the wires in the pigtail to Blue in the middle and Black to the outside as shown here.  My bulbs, as most,  were shipped with the wires in position for 9007 applications.

With the help of a wire connector release tool from Gary at Innovative Wiring
http://www.innovativewiring.com/  I was able to easily release the wire connectors and move them to the correct location in the connector.

Make sure the bulb is fully seated in the socket before putting the locking ring on

Here is a picture of one HID's compared to an 80w/100w Halogen with HD wiring harness.

I have both 35w and 55w ballest and ran a heads up comparison.  Both required that the headlights be aimed lower to prevent flashes from on coming cars.  Light on the road with the 35w was about the same as my 80/100 halogen bulbs.  The 55w showed a big increase in light.

Living in the country I'm not sure if the brighter lights will offend others when I'm in the city.  Time will tell.  But they are great on the dark back roads.

To eliminate the problem of the single element HID bulbs going out when the high beam switch is pressed,  I used a jumper wire to engage the HID's from the high beam harness.
